As part of the Memories and Reflections, Anniversary Celebrations from 8th to 14th February 1942, the Malay Regiment defended the western and southern parts of Singapore from the invading Japanese. It was on Bukit Chandu, that the Malay Regiment fought most gallantly and became known as the illustrious "Battle at Bukit Chandu".
