NBA Finals Game 1

- Defensively for the Spurs, their main order of business is to discourage Bron's driving lanes to the rim. I see them doing this in 2 ways:
1) sending traps/ hard doubles to get the ball out of Bron's hands,
2) sagging off the Cavs either in man or some zone looks.

Either way the Spurs want the Cavs to prove they hit their outside shots.

-- When not doubling Bron, you should sag off Bron & don't stunt at him. Don't give him a reason to get his dribble going, let him take stationary jumpers with his feet set. I think he's much more comfortable when he can get movement/rhythm to set up his jumper. This is why I like some zones from the Spurs because they encourage more set jumpers.

-- Can anyone from the Cavs keep Parker out of the painted area? That is a big question mark right now, especially with Larry Hughes at less then 100%. As important as Dan Gibson's outside shooting is to the Cavs in this series, it might be more important what he can accomplish on the defensive end vs. Parker or Manu.

-- Cavs need to try some pick-n-pops with Bron & Big Z if Duncan is guarding Big Z. Hopefully this will drag Timmy away from the baseline, where is such a monster defensively.

-- Sasha Pavlovic has to step up in this series. He has been erratic offensively in the playoffs---Sasha's only shooting 38.6% overall in the playoffs & shot just 39% vs. the Pistons. The Cavs desperately need his shooting stroke from deep.

-- One thing the Cavs need to try to exploit in this series is the Spurs' defensive glass. The Cavs are one of the best off. rebounding squads in the NBA, and use this strength to offset their mediocre shooting pct. The Spurs had some troubles keeping the Jazz off the off. glass in the West Finals--Spurs had a Defensive Rebound Pct. of 69%, not very good.

Those are a few tidbits to look for now. I'll have some more later, still surfing the net for news. The above are some questions and answers from Fans and Analysts around the World, aku juz cut and paste them and add in some comments

Its Halftime now, with Spurs at 40 and Cavs at 35.

Let's get this party started !!!

Singapore radio bra stunt fined

SINGAPORE (AP) -- Singapore's media regulator says it will fine a local radio broadcaster for holding an "exploitative and inappropriate" contest in which female talk show guests were asked to remove their bras on-air.

MediaCorp Radio will be fined 15,000 Singapore dollars (U.S.$9,800) for contravening a broadcast code in a March radio segment that challenged a group of women to take their bras off from under their clothes in the shortest possible time, the Media Development Authority said in a statement Monday.

The women, who were in the studio, were asked to remove their bras from under their clothes, hold their bras up and pose for a video camera recording the event to be posted on the broadcaster's Web site and video-sharing site YouTube, according to the statement.

"The broadcasting of such a contest, requiring the removal of bras by young women, has a negative influence on young impressionable listeners," the statement said.

The media regulator said the radio show's hosts made sexually suggestive remarks about "how fast the bras were removed, as well as the color, design and cup size of the bras, and the size of the girls' breasts."

"As celebrity figures and role models, DJs wield influence over young listeners, and hence, should conduct themselves in a socially responsible manner," the statement said.

Singapore has in recent years relaxed censorship regulations for some films and plays, in an effort to loosen up and market the modern and wealthy city as a media and arts center. But controls remain tight in the conservative island nation.

LEFT OR RIGHT?

(Gotten this off Evelyn)

How to identify yourself as right or left brain person:

1. Hold your hands together, as if you were praying.

Look at your hands. If you see

Left thumb is below the right thumb ---> left brain
Right thumb is below the left thumb ---> right brian

2. Fold your arms in front of you (as if you are angry)

Right arm above left arm ---> left brain
Left arm above right arm ---> right brain

Based on 1+2 (order important), below is the interpretation of your personality:

Right-Left
Considerate, traditional, indirect type

Can instinctly read other's emotion, and respond friendly by natures. Although not very into taking intiatives in moving forward, but this person will always take a step back in supporting others. Stable personality and considerate, give others a being protected feeling. But the weakness is they cannot say no; regardless how unwilling they are, they will take care of others.

Right-Right
Loves challenges type

Straightfoward. Once they decided on one thing, will take action right away. Very curious, and love challenges. Dare to face dangers without thinking through (sometimes foolishly). Their weakness is they dont listen to others, will filter in only what whey want to hear in a conversation, and very subjective. However, because of their straightforward attitude, they tend to be fairly popular.

Left-Left
Dedicated, cold, perfectionist

Very logical in all aspects. The only way to defeat (or win over) him/her is through reasons. Has a lot of prides, and feeling strongly about doing the right thing. If they are your friends, they are very trustworthy. However, if they are your opponets, they will be very tough to deal with. Because they can be very "anal" as a perfectionist, they usually leave a bad impression of being hard to deal with when first met.

Left-Right
Likes to take care of others, leader type

Has a cool and keen observation ability to see through situations, yet still can be considerate in others needs. Because of their cool and calm nature, and strong sense of responsibility, they tend to become head of a group. Popular among people. However, they may not be able to help themselves in meddling because they want to take care of others too much. Very concerned about how others view them, and always on alert.

I'm a left-left according to this test.

No more Downloading

Odex has finally done it. Singapore’s anime download community is doomed. Anyway some poor guys/gals probably wet his/her pants after receiving this letter.

Image ripped off here

BTW the organization mentioned in the letter Anti-Piracy Association of Singapore is similar to the RIAA/RIAS except that Odex appears to be the sole active local member.
The organization has obtained authorizations from various Japanese studios to represent their rights for all their copyrighted works, even those that are not licensed by Odex for distribution in Singapore.

The full list of authorised titles can be found on their website.

Some thoughts found on intarwebs coupled with some of mine.

I am very, very extremely curious as to how Odex, a private local business entity, managed to obtain personal data from the ISPs based on purely circumstantial evidences. As far as I can see from the AVPAS member list, there is zero indication that it is anything else but a private organization. It is neither related to the police nor the relevant government agencies.

Therefore, we can safely conclude that it is the anime equivalent of the RIAA.
However, RIAA, as mighty and powerful as it appears to be, is not able to obtain any personal information from American ISPs directly. It has to do it through the court. That means there are tones of legal mambo jambo they has to go thru like subpoenas to force ISPs to reveal the identities of the downloaders. The names are undisclosed by ISPs until after the court subpoena. In such cases, the first letter received by the poor sob should be from his own ISP informing him of the existence of such a subpoena for his identity, instead of a legal letter from the suing party.

The above letter is addressed to the person himself and was sent directly by Odex.

This only means that Odex, without first going through any legal proceedings, is able to obtain personal information directly from the ISPs using only the IP address. That is totally outta this world if you consider the enormous amount of power that has been put into the hands of a private company and the potential for abuse by individuals with their personal agendas.

You know, there’s a certain someone whom I really hate on a certain forum like Tigerkiller. I will fake produce a record of his IP address illegally torrenting a video that I once did and I shall then e-mail this “proof” to Singnet and ask for this person’s home address. And if that doesn’t work, I’ll go spend $5 to register a company to make the request seem more legitimate.

Of course Odex is a legitimate company that is trying to protect its rights under the current intellectual property rights law (flawed as it may be). But my point is that if a private entity can obtain such information without the prior knowledge of the people involved and without the authority of the court, then what exactly in our legal system is protecting our privacy from abuse by some unscrupulous characters? And if such protection of personal privacy does indeed exist, what exactly allows Odex to bypass it?

Then again, I’m not well-versed with the local legal system. Or maybe our privacy laws are really that screwed up.

Read this excellent explanation of the “RIAA vs. John Doe” lawsuits, particularly the sections on “How the RIAA identifies the people they sue” and “The Lawsuit Begins”, and compare it to what Odex is apparently authorized to do. Doesn’t RIAA look like the better alternative?

So what are your remaining options for your weekly anime fix?
1. Direct download sites
2. Obscure China Bittorrent trackers
3. Move to Japan
4. Find a job at Odex

Alternatively, find a safer hobby like playing pirated ps3 games or serial jaywalking across expressways.

PS: Can everyone tell Livi to stop downloading.

SAN FRANCISCO (Reuters) - Apple Inc. will start selling its iPhone on June 29, a debut that will test whether the company's design success with Mac computers and iPod media players can carry over into mobile handsets.

Apple announced the date on Sunday, with three television commercials showing off the phone's large touchscreen and ability to watch video, play music and display photos. The ads can also be seen on the company's Web site.

The U.S. launch date was confirmed by a company spokesman. Apple plans to sell the iPhone in Europe and Japan eventually, but has not announced specific dates.

The iPhone will cost $500 or $600, depending on the amount of memory included and will be sold through the online and physical stores of Apple and AT&T Inc., which is the only current service provider. AT&T has exclusive iPhone rights for two years.

Apple's chief executive, Steve Jobs, unveiled the iPhone in January after months of speculation that the company was working on a mobile phone wrapping in features of its popular iPod music and video players.

Worldwide cellphone sales are running at about 1 billion units a year, and Jobs noted that if Apple took a 1 percent market share in 2008, that would mean the company would sell 10 million iPhones.

The debut of the iPhone poses a challenge to other handset makers such as Motorola Inc. and Nokia, who are also selling highly profitable high-end "smart phones".

AT&T, the biggest U.S. phone company, is also hoping the iPhone's draw will give it an edge over rivals such as Verizon Communications Inc. and Sprint Nextel Corp.

Executives from rival companies say the iPhone's high price may turn off many potential customers, while the buzz over the device could carry over to other fancy phones.

The iPhone will come with either 4 gigabytes or 8 gigabytes of flash memory for storing video, music and photos, and does away with all buttons in favor of a touch screen. It has been lauded for features such as its built-in camera, light and orientation sensors, and sleek design.

Critics also note that it uses GSM, an older wireless technology that is gradually being supplanted by so-called 3G networks that can transmit data much faster.

Apple's stock has been sensitive in recent weeks to any rumors about the iPhone's launch.

Last week the shares rose on a media report that the phone would be launched on June 20. In mid-May the shares fell after a technology news Web site posted an e-mail purportedly from Apple that claimed the phone would be delayed. Apple said the e-mail was a hoax.

Apple shares rose 7 percent last week and have nearly doubled over the past year.
