THE founder of Thailand's 'yellow shirt' protest movement, Sondhi Limthongkul who was behind the week-long occupation of Bangkok's main airports late last year, was shot and wounded early on Friday, a spokesman for his movement said.
“His car was attacked in a petrol station near the central bank around 5am (2200 GMT on Thursday, 6am Singapore time) At least 2 attackers followed Sondhi's car, overtook it and sprayed it with about 100 rounds of gunfire from AK-47 and M-16s. [Sondhi] was injured in the shoulder but is out of danger now," said local police commander Colonel King Kwaengwisatchaicharn.
