Citizens were warned today that they should be wary of extravagant claims of budget enhancement, especially in the absence of scientific studies.

The Governmental Oversight of Nebulous and Excessive Claims About Singapore’s Enhancement (GONECASE), a consumer watchdog, has issued a warning that certain organizations have been making unsubstantiated claims about their ability to enhance the size of citizens’ budgets.

“These organizations paint ‘Before’ and ‘After’ pictures to entice people into buying into their plans,” said GONECASE chairperson Mdm Sudah binte Habis. “But the fact is, they are not backed up by scientific scrutiny.”

Mdm Sudah used the example of Murky-Finance Bottomline Salon, which claimed that “top heavy earners” would have their assets enhanced after undergoing certain strategic cuts to their tax rates.

“Citizens should ask why people who are already top heavy need their assets enhanced any further,” said Mdm Sudah. “And why aren’t those with less endowed budgets having commensurate enhancements performed?”

Claims are being made that allowing top heavy earners to take home more would allow them to share the pleasure with other less privileged people.

“Only a tit head would believe that,” said Mdm Sudah. “The big boobs just want to milk the rest of us dry. Anyway, the ‘sharing’ model simply isn’t borne out by empirical analysis. Heavy titters, I mean, hitters didn’t get heavy by sharing what they consume. They do so by keeping a disproportionate amount of cream for themselves.”

However, some budget enhancement salons have said the less endowed will get special top-up discounts.

“Top-ups are not steps up,” said Mdm Sudah. “Unless they’re super greedy, millionaires won’t really notice an extra few thousand missing, but average citizens really feel the pinch, especially when their employment prospects aren’t great and we’ve already been told they’re not going to improve significantly. Why aren’t they getting something more substantial like their CPF cuts being restored?”

“And we should also ask how the revenue shortfall caused by the rich man’s tax cut is being financed?” Mdm Sudah continued. “Remember why GST was introduced? Are the other price hikes connected to the tax cut? Why are we allowing fat cats to get fatter while those trapped in the rat race have to undergo more lean years?”

However, pet weight loss specialist Miss Mao Chin Pooi said that there were clear advantages to make fat cats get fatter. “The fatter they’re allowed to get, the more difficult it will be for them to move away from the home.”
