Enquiries on Fugitive Mas Salamat

This is how we should respond to enquiries from tourists,

" The following statement pertains to the enquiry regarding what should be the suitable response to the incident when queried .

Firstly, the Singapore Tourism Board (STB) is not in the position to comment on security matters as this falls under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Home Affairs.

According to the Ministry of Home Affairs there is currently no information that Mas Selamat has plans that threaten public security.  Our security agencies have assessed that he is not of imminent danger to the public. Singaporeans and visitors alike can be assured that the Government will do its utmost to ensure that all necessary security measures are in place to protect Singapore.

According to the Ministry of Home Affairs, the search for Mas Selamat is ongoing. More than 1,000 police officers, army servicemen and other security personnel have been deployed. Increased checks are also in place at all places and buildings in the vicinity of where he may be hiding; at our land, sea and air checkpoints; and areas along our coastline from where he might try to leave Singapore. The Singapore Government has also requested Interpol to put out a security alert on him. No efforts will be spared to find him".

For updated information, please refer to the Ministry of Home Affairs website at: www.mha.gov.sg"

See..this is the correct response to all.
