Fresh Off The Boat
Meaning of Fob?
At the site
WHAT’S A “FOB”?
FOB stands for “fresh off the boat,” and is a term often used to describe Asian immigrants who just aren’t quite on track with American culture. You know, if your family still eats Peking duck instead of turkey on Thanksgiving, owns a giant cleaver, and takes 20 more napkins than you need at KFC? That’s fob status — and for the record, we aren’t ashamed. My drawer at home is full of silverware… from Chipotle. My mother taught me everything I know.
ISN’T THAT… SORT OF MEAN?
Okay, speaking seriously now: we don’t mean “fob” in a derogatory sense whatsoever. I mean, we’re pretty fobby ourselves (come on, we know some of you out there have owned Totoro pajama sets too — no?) It’s totally tongue in cheek. We’re not trying to make fun of our moms — we think they’re freakin’ adorable, and we want to showcase those precious moments to a community of 2nd-generation Asian American kids who know exactly what it’s like to be on the receiving end of that amazing, unconditional, and sometimes misspelled love. We heart our moms for everything they are: grammatical atrocities, awkward sex talks, and all.

Random Thought
Change is a difficult time for everyone and, while there are some things we can't control, there are always things that we can influence. I believe that we have what it takes to succeed, inside all of us. My advice to all of you is to focus on areas where you can make a difference.
I believe that we can come through this and emerge stronger. We need to remain focused, stay positive and maintain our confidence. We can learn a lot during difficult times and it is our strength, determination and ability to rise above challenges that will set us apart from our peers. It is important now, more than ever before, that we support each other, look to strengthen the teamwork among us and live by our values of Innovation, Action, and Trust.
CAAS launches online travel portal offering best airfares
SINGAPORE: Singapore's latest travel portal offering some of the best airfares around is not the brainchild of a dotcom entrepreneur.
Instead, it is an effort by the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS) to enable users to compare the best deals for flights into and out of Singapore at a glance and to make bookings.
At ViaSingapore.com, a search engine will comb over 100 websites in real time for the best airfares on offer.
Search results will include fares on both full-service airlines and low-cost carriers, with the lowest airfares featured upfront.
The portal also has information on accommodation, tour packages and upcoming events.
CAAS' director-general and chief executive officer, Lim Kim Choon, said the portal would also help travellers explore the Asia-Pacific region from Singapore, and is part of the authority's ongoing efforts to enhance Changi Airport's attractiveness as an air hub.

ED's notes:
Best air fares or best packages or not.. i do not know and will adopt the wait and see but wat i see is that our Almighty Gahmen has decided to up the recession speed and unemployment rates by entering a already dying trade of middlemen.

New Spects

Was looking for a sun glass bag for a fren. Then i realised she alr found one. Hee.. Then i carried on browsing as i had like another 3 hours to kill after my rest at the cinema. I chanced upon a shop with an incredible offer. Wat's tops is that it has a frame which i liked. I was considering if the price was right. Then the sales person told me "Prescription lens plus frame very cheap at RM238 only." Needless to say, that 1 liner got me hooked. As they always say Only in Malaysia - truly Asia
